President Welcomes Initiative regarding Regular Foreign Policy Meetings

President Čaputová participated in the working lunch of the three leading government officials and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs on Friday, 30 April 2021.

The president welcomed the initiative of Ivan Korčok, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, to have her meet regularly with Prime Minister Eduard Heger and Boris Kollár, chairman of the National Council of the SR regarding foreign policy. "We live in hectic times, when a clear standpoint must be taken, and which must also be explained to the general public. Although we do not always see eye to eye, it is important that our decisions be united by the common goal: the best interests of our country. And the best interests of our country do not only reflect immediate profits, but also the commitment to protect our values and safety, along with our partners in the European Union and NATO. The fact remains that the cooperation and solidarity that we seek in critical situations, will be
given to us in equal measure that we provide the same to our partners in their time of need.  Our relationships as the three highest government officials, enable us to express criticism toward each other. However, we agree that the foreign policy compass of the Slovak Republic is pointing in the right direction and our steps should always move in the same direction.”
